Robert S. Nishime, M.D.

Dr. Nishime is a Family Physician and founder of San Jose's Japantown Medical Group, dual-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in both Sports Medicine and Family Practice. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, he earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University before completing medical school with honors at Rush Medical College, followed by a residency in Family Medicine. He moved to the Bay Area for his Sports Medicine fellowship at Stanford University. With expertise in child and adolescent care, adult medicine, and acute urgent care, Dr. Nishime is also a pioneer in combat sports medicine, offering specialized care to athletes of all ages and levels. His extensive career includes over 15 years as Chief of Sports Medicine for USA Judo, serving as team physician for San Jose State University Athletics, and working with prestigious teams such as the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, and the American Kickboxing Academy.

Dr. Nishime moved to the Bay Area for his specialty training in Sports Medicine at the Stanford University-affiliated fellowship program.

Dr. Nishime is experienced in child and adolescent care, adult medicine and acute urgent care. He is also a pioneer in combat sports medicine and provides expert care to athletes of all ages and skill levels.

Dr. Nishime served over 15 years as the Chief of Sports Medicine for USA Judo. He also is a team physician for San Jose State University Athletics and San Jose State Judo. Dr. Nishime is the medical consultant for the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) as well as the team physician for the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers.

Midori Nishimura, M.D.
